1. A working Windows computer (all versions supported).

2. Ensure at least 2 logical partitions on your computer e.g., (C:) and (D:) drives.
* To check your disk partitions, press Win+X keys to open Disk Management.

3. For a single-partition computer, use a USB or external hard drive to run software and store files.

4. For external formatted or crashed hard drive, prepare an adapter or compatible cable if needed.
Important: After a partition data loss event, DO NOT create, move, or save new files on the affected drive. Overwritten data may become permanently unrecoverable.

All Solutions
Sudden power outages, partitioning errors, system crashes, hardware failures, and accidental partition deletion are common causes of partition data loss. Regardless of the cause, you'll need a reliable partition recovery tool to retrieve your lost files.
In this video, we'll show you how to recover data from a lost partition on Windows using RecoveryFox AI, our AI-powered data recovery software.
The video will be uploaded soon, please watch the text tutorial first. Thank you.
RecoveryFox AI features an intuitive interface, making it easy for everyone to recover their lost or deleted partition data. Just follow these simple steps to quickly scan and retrieve your files from a lost partition.
📢 Optimize Scan Settings
To speed up the scanning process, you can go to “Settings” before selecting a location to scan. There, you can enable options such as skipping empty space, temporary files, damaged archives, or embedded files that you do not need to recover.
Step 1. Select the Partition to Scan
Launch RecoveryFox AI. From the drive list, locate the lost partition and click it to start scanning.

Step 2. Scan the Lost Partition
RecoveryFox AI first performs a Quick Scan, which typically completes within minutes. Once finished, the AI Scan automatically starts to perform a deeper and more comprehensive search for lost files.
The total scan time can range from a few minutes to several hours, depending on the partition size, file volume, and storage device condition.
You can pause or stop the AI Scan at any time if you want to review the files found so far.

Step 3. Preview and Recover
For the best recovery results and file integrity, we recommend allowing RecoveryFox AI to complete the full scan.
Once the scan is finished, browse the results by File Path or File Type. To preview a file, simply right-click it and select "Preview".
Next, select the files you want to recover. You can recover all found files, a specific type folder, a subfolder, or an individual file.
Click “Recover” and choose a safe location to save the recovered files. To prevent data overwriting, it's best to use an external USB drive or hard disk.

RecoveryFox AI has two scan modes. For Recycle Bin file recovery, RecoveryFox AI runs a Quick Scan that usually finishes within minutes. After the scan, Recycle Bin files are organized under the corresponding drive folders in the File Path tab. Files with missing path information can be found in the File Path Lost folder.
For all other scan locations, AI Scan automatically starts after Quick Scan completes, performing a deeper analysis of the storage device. Using advanced AI-powered algorithms, RecoveryFox AI can locate scattered file fragments, reconstruct damaged file structures, and recover more lost files with improved integrity.
1. What happens if I delete a partition?
When a partition is deleted, Windows typically stops showing it in File Explorer, and Disk Management often shows the area as unallocated space. The files are not always erased immediately; the partition metadata is removed first, so the data may still be recoverable until new data overwrites it.
2. How to recover a deleted partition in Windows 11?
If you only want to make the disk usable again and do not need the original data, you can open Disk Management and create a new simple volume on the unallocated space. This recreates the partition as a fresh drive but does not restore previous data.
If the partition still exists but is inaccessible due to a missing drive letter, you can simply assign a new drive letter in Disk Management to restore access.
If you want both the data and the partition experience, first use RecoveryFox AI to scan the unallocated space and recover your files to another drive. After that, you can safely recreate the partition in Disk Management.
3. How to recover data from an unallocated partition?
To recover data from unallocated space:
• Launch RecoveryFox AI.
• Select the partition or storage device showing Unallocated in Disk Management.
• Allow the software to complete both Quick Scan and AI Scan.
• Browse the recovered files by File Path or File Type.
• Preview important files to verify their integrity.
• Recover the desired files to a separate storage device.
• The sooner you perform the recovery, the higher the chance of successfully restoring your files before they are overwritten. Try before buy! To restore your files, you’ll need to upgrade to unlock its "Recover" feature.
4. Is RecoveryFox AI free?
RecoveyFox AI allows everyone to scan and preview recoverable files for free.
