PART 5. RECOVERYFOX AI TIPS AND FAQS
5.3 FAQs
Q 1: Can I recover data from a formatted drive?
A: Yes. RecoveryFox AI can recover data from a formatted drive. It can also handle other real-life data loss scenarios, including virus attacks, accidental deletion, and logical crash. To maximize recovery success, please stop using the affected device as soon as you notice data loss.
Q 2: Can I recover data from a lost or deleted partition?
A: Yes. RecoveryFox AI can help with data recovery from lost or deleted partitions. This Windows data recovery tool also supports various data loss scenarios, including accidental deletion, disk formatting, virus attacks, system crashes, and more.
Q 3: I accidentally deleted my files. Can I just install RecoveryFox AI on the same drive and recover them?
A: No, it's strongly advised against. Installing any software, including data recovery software, on the same disk where your lost files were may overwrite the file data and make them impossible to recover. You should install the software on a different drive to avoid data overwrite.
Q 4: I deleted files a long time ago. Can I still recover them?
A: Yes, RecoveryFox AI can recover long-deleted files. Even for partially overwritten files, AI Scan is capable of detecting and reconstructing the rest of the fragmented data into a single file. While no tool guarantees 100% recovery, acting quickly and performing our advanced AI Scan gives you the best shot.
Q 5: Where should I save the recovered files?
A: NEVER save recovered files back to the original drive. Always save them to a different drive, external hard drive, USB drive, or network location. Saving them to the same drive risks overwriting other lost data.
Q 6: RecoveryFox AI recovered files with strange names and no folder structure after the AI-scan and recovery. Why?
If the file name or path metadata is damaged due to file system corruption or other reasons, the files cannot be restored with their original names or paths. However, RecoveryFox AI can restore these files with generic names, outside of their original directories, to ensure recovery and avoid conflicts from duplicate file names.
Q 7: Why isn’t RecoveryFox AI detecting my storage device?
A: RecoveryFox AI supports 3 widely used file systems: NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT. When RecoveryFox AI fails to identify your storage device, you ought to examine the file system of your device first. Then ensure the device is plugged in and detected by your system's Disk Management tool. If it is not detectable there, there might be a hardware issue, which may be a damaged device.
Q 8: Why is RecoveryFox AI not finding the files that I want to recover?
A: In most cases, you cannot find the files you want to recover in RecoveryFox AI due to:
1. Overwritten Data: When data is overwritten by new files, the original data is essentially replaced and lost. These files are impossible to recover.
2. If data is partially overwritten, the AI Scan still can recover the files. In such cases, the original filename and path are lost. That’s why you may fail to locate your needed data. To pinpoint the desired files, you can use filters including File Type, modified Date, and Size to narrow the results.
Q 9: Why is RecoveryFox AI taking so long to scan my drive?
A: The size of the storage device, drive health, drive speed and connection speed, file type and size, amount of data on the drive, and file system complexity all may affect the scan time.
Try the following if it’s taking too long:
- Pause the scan and resume it later.
- Close unnecessary programs to free up system resources.
- Check the connectivity with your device, make sure it’s properly connected.
- Use USB 3.0/3.1, SATA, or thunderbolt connections for faster transfers.
- Run a SMART test to see if the drive is failing: open Command Prompt as an administrator, and type “wmic diskdrive get status” and press “Enter”. If the status shows “OK”, then your hard drive is healthy. Otherwise, there is at least one error on your hard drive.
- Use tools like CrystalDisk Info to check for bad sectors and contact a local technician for professional assistance.
- Email us at support@wonderfoxrecovery.com to get help.
Q 10: The recovered files are corrupted or won't open. What should I do?
A: If you find the recovered files corrupted or won't open, it may be because that your lost data has been overwritten or the recovery process is interrupted. Please do a full re-scan and try recovering the files again and if the problem persists, send an email to support@wonderfoxrecovery.com.
